BRANDY NICHOLSON, Ph.D. LPC NCC CCMHC RPT
A licensed professional counselor (LPC), I received my Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA, and my Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, KY. My approach is from an Adlerian Therapy perspective while incorporating my Adlerian Play Therapy and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) trainings.
In my practice, I see children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples. Specializing in stress management, relationships, trauma, and children’s issues, I utilize EMDR, Adlerian therapy, and
CBT as useful tools for growth. Additionally, I am a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) and enjoy working with children ages three and older through the use of play in the therapy room. Finally, as a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT), I incorporate mindfulness and other yoga practices into my session when appropriate.
When not in the counseling office, I enjoy teaching yoga and participating in SUP (stand-up paddleboard) yoga! Yoga has been a great addition to my personal life as well as to my counseling practice where I can now assist clients in learning ways to calm and relax the body through breathwork and movement.
